Red, White, And Blue BBQ

This weekend, we hosted our annual Red, White, and Blue BBQ benefitting Honor Flight. Honor Flight is a non-profit organization that honors America's veterans. One of the biggest projects they undergo is sending veterans to Washington D.C. for a trip of a lifetime. By hosting a BBQ on Sunday, we raised money for the Honor Flight program so they can continue serving those who served. From 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. we had award-winning pulled pork, bratwursts, chips, and beverages. The weather was wonderful and the food was phenomenal!

Road Convention

This morning we had our Road Convention organized by our Road Chairman, Brett Nardoni. The Road Convention is intended to improve member development throughout the chapter. Members were split into three groups and we had three stations that featured a speaker. Mike Zeiter (Fall 2007) spoke in one station about being successful in college, preparing for life after college, and continuing to improve our chapter. At another station, Traci Scardina, Coordinator of MBA services at the university,  taught us important resume and cover letter building tips. Lastly, Julie Drury, Greek Life Coordinator at the university, informed us on the importance of positive Greek action on the university and Columbia area. After we had BBQ on the patio, State Senator Mike Kehoe spoke to us about his life, accomplishments, and answered any questions we had about politics today. The Road Convention was a huge success!

Newly Initiated Brothers

The young men of the Spring 2013 Pledge Class were initiated into the Delta Tau Delta Brotherhood Friday, April 5th. Their hard work and dedication throughout the semester paid off and they can now call themselves Gamma Kappa Delts. We look forward to their contributions as they continue their dedication to the fraternity throughout their college career to prove to others what being a Delt is all about.

Mom's Weekend 2013

Recently, our lovely Mothers joined us in Columbia for a fun weekend of Mother-Son bonding. On Friday evening, Delts, with their Mothers, convened at the Vault in the Tiger Hotel for drinks and appetizers. On Saturday morning, everyone boarded buses and traveled to the Lake of the Ozarks. First, we went to the Seven Springs Winery for lunch and wine tasting. After the delicious lunch and wine, we went to the Outlet Mall in Osage Beach for our Mothers to spoil us with clothes and other merchandise. Saturday evening was a tropical themed night at the house with Poker, Black Jack, and other gambling games. Chips were used to be cashed in for raffle tickets and awesome prize baskets were raffled out. Also, a silent auction took place filled with baskets of items desired by college students in the kitchen. Sunday, before the Mothers left for home, everyone met at the Tiger Hotel for Brunch and a final farewell. Once again, Mom's Weekend was a huge success and we are all looking forward to next year's!
